Nature Knows

Nature Knows is a lyrical picture book narrative about escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life and finding solace in nature. A story about calming busy minds and bringing us home to ourselves.

Beautifully written by Yvette Farmer and published by Thames and Hudson. Nature Knows will be released in both Australia and the US.

Working on the illustrations for this book was such a special project for me. I’ve always felt deeply connected to nature. It's my favourite place to escape to, especially when life is busy and feels overwhelming or feels 'foofy' as Yvette says!

I’m so grateful to Thames and Hudson for trusting me with this story. A big thank you to Clair, Fay and Lucy, and the rest of the T&H team for helping to bring this book to life.

I hope this story encourages little readers to step outside, and take in the great wonder of nature!

Chloe Jasmine Harris’s illustrations enhance the story with warmth and charm. Her painterly textures capture the sensory abundance of the bush, from the crackle of the campfire to the wild tangle of trees that don’t grow in straight lines. Nature Knows will appeal to readers aged 4 and up, especially families craving a simpler pace, educators exploring mindfulness and libraries building collections around wellbeing and environmental connection. - Karys McEwen, Books and Publishing

Nature Knows brings together beautifully calming yet vibrant illustrations and a story of a young boy and his family who need some time away from the chaos of their city home to deliver an essential message about the necessity of taking some time to stop and smell the flowers. A wonderful picture book for any child feeling overwhelmed by the constant happenings of indoor living and an even better reminder for adults to stop and seek out the calming wisdom to be found in nature. For ages 3+. - Lili Reus-Smit, Readings
